All-on-4 Dental Implants in Mississauga: Cost, Procedure & Recovery (2026 Guide)

All-on-4 Dental Implants in Mississauga: Cost, Procedure & Recovery (2026 Guide)

For patients who are missing most or all of their teeth in an arch — or facing the prospect of losing them — traditional dentures can feel like a step down rather than a real solution: they slip, require adhesive, and can’t restore full biting strength. All-on-4 dental implants Mississauga patients are increasingly choosing offer a fixed, permanent alternative, replacing an entire arch of teeth using just four strategically placed implants. This guide covers how the procedure works, what recovery looks like, cost, and how it compares to traditional implants and dentures.

At Eglinton Oak Dental, our team plans and places full-arch implant solutions including All-on-4 — call 905-607-1112 to book a consultation and find out if you’re a candidate.

What is the All-on-4 dental implant technique?

All-on-4 is a full-arch tooth replacement technique that uses just four dental implants, strategically angled, to support an entire fixed arch of replacement teeth — either the upper arch, lower arch, or both. Rather than placing a separate implant for every missing tooth (which can require six to eight or more implants per arch, and isn’t always possible without bone grafting), All-on-4 uses the two front implants placed vertically and two back implants angled to maximize contact with existing, denser bone — often allowing patients with some bone loss to qualify without a separate bone grafting procedure first.

The result is a full arch of fixed, non-removable teeth, supported by just four implants, that functions and feels much closer to natural teeth than a removable denture — no slipping, no adhesive, and significantly more biting force than dentures can provide.

Who is a candidate for All-on-4?

All-on-4 is typically considered for patients who:

  • Are missing most or all of their teeth in one or both arches, or facing extraction of most remaining teeth due to decay or gum disease
  • Currently wear a full denture that slips, feels unstable, or has become uncomfortable
  • Have experienced some bone loss that might otherwise require extensive grafting for traditional implants
  • Want a fixed (non-removable) solution rather than a removable denture
  • Are in good enough general health to undergo minor oral surgery

A consultation with a 3D scan (CBCT) is the only reliable way to confirm candidacy, since it lets us evaluate your existing bone volume and density precisely and plan implant placement and angulation before any surgery happens.

All-on-4 vs. traditional dental implants

Traditional implant-supported restorations typically place one implant per missing tooth, or use implant-supported bridges spanning several implants. This approach works very well for replacing a handful of teeth, but replacing an entire arch this way can require six to eight or more implants and, if bone has already been lost, often requires bone grafting first — adding significant time and cost. All-on-4’s angled placement strategy is specifically designed to work with a patient’s existing bone as efficiently as possible, often making a full-arch fixed solution achievable in a single surgical visit, even for patients who’ve already lost meaningful bone volume in the back of the jaw.

All-on-4 vs. traditional dentures

The comparison patients care most about is usually All-on-4 versus a traditional removable denture, since that’s often the realistic alternative being weighed:

  • Stability: All-on-4 is permanently fixed in place; dentures can shift or slip, especially over time as the jawbone changes shape
  • Biting force: All-on-4 restores significantly more chewing strength — often close to natural teeth — while dentures typically restore only a fraction of natural biting force
  • Bone preservation: implants stimulate the jawbone the way natural tooth roots do, slowing the bone loss that occurs under a denture over time; dentures accelerate that bone loss since they rest on the gum and provide no stimulation to the bone beneath
  • No adhesive needed: All-on-4 doesn’t require the daily denture adhesive many denture wearers rely on
  • Speech and comfort: a fixed arch typically feels and sounds more natural, without the bulk of a denture’s palate coverage (on upper arches especially)
  • Cost and maintenance: dentures cost less upfront but need periodic relining or replacement as your jaw shape changes over the years; All-on-4 costs more initially but functions like a long-term, largely maintenance-free solution

What happens during the All-on-4 procedure

The full process typically unfolds over a few key stages:

  • Consultation and 3D imaging: a CBCT scan maps your jawbone precisely, and any remaining problem teeth are evaluated for extraction
  • Treatment planning: the exact implant positions and angles are planned digitally before surgery
  • Surgical day: any remaining unhealthy teeth are extracted, four implants are placed at planned positions and angles, and in many cases a temporary fixed arch of teeth is attached the very same day — meaning you can leave with a functional, fixed set of teeth immediately rather than going without teeth during healing
  • Healing period: over the following three to six months, the implants fuse with the jawbone (a process called osseointegration) while you use the temporary arch
  • Final restoration: once healing is complete, a final, more durable and precisely fitted permanent arch replaces the temporary one

This “teeth in a day” element — leaving surgery with functional temporary teeth rather than a healing gap — is one of the most valued aspects of All-on-4 for patients transitioning from failing natural teeth or an old denture.

How much do All-on-4 dental implants cost in Mississauga?

All-on-4 is a significant investment, reflecting the surgery, implants, temporary arch, and final restoration involved. As a general 2026 guide for Mississauga:

  • All-on-4, single arch (implants + temporary + final arch): roughly $18,000 – $28,000
  • All-on-4, both arches (full mouth): roughly $35,000 – $55,000
  • Any necessary extractions beforehand: typically $150 – $400 per tooth, sometimes included in a package price

Cost varies based on the materials used for the final arch (zirconia versus acrylic-over-titanium options), whether extractions or minor bone work are needed, and the specific lab used for the final restoration. We always provide a detailed, itemized estimate after your consultation and 3D scan, since pricing genuinely depends on your individual anatomy and needs.

Is All-on-4 covered by insurance or the CDCP?

Dental implants, including All-on-4, receive limited coverage from most employer dental insurance plans, which often treat implants as an elective or major service with a capped annual maximum — meaning insurance typically covers only a portion of the total cost, if any. The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) does not currently cover implant-supported full-arch restorations for most patients, though coverage rules do periodically change, so it’s worth confirming your specific situation with us. Because of the investment involved, we offer detailed estimates upfront and can discuss flexible payment options to help make treatment manageable.

Recovery timeline after All-on-4

  • First few days: swelling, mild discomfort, and a soft-food diet; prescribed pain relief and antibiotics as needed
  • First 1–2 weeks: swelling subsides; most patients return to work within a few days to a week, depending on the physical demands of their job
  • First few months: continue with a soft-to-moderate diet while implants fuse with the bone (osseointegration); the temporary arch is functional but should be treated somewhat gently
  • 3–6 months: once osseointegration is confirmed, the final permanent arch is fitted, after which normal chewing function is fully restored

Most patients describe recovery as more manageable than expected, in part because the temporary fixed arch placed on surgery day means you’re never without functional teeth during the healing process.

Caring for All-on-4 implants long-term

While the arch itself doesn’t get cavities the way natural teeth do, the implants, gum tissue, and the underside of the arch still require diligent daily cleaning to prevent gum inflammation (peri-implantitis) around the implants, which can otherwise threaten the long-term success of the restoration. This typically involves specialized brushes or a water flosser designed to clean under and around a fixed arch, along with regular professional maintenance visits (often every 4–6 months) where we check implant stability, clean around the implants professionally, and inspect the fit of the arch. With proper care, All-on-4 implants can last well over a decade, and often function for a patient’s lifetime, though the prosthetic arch itself may eventually need replacement due to normal wear.

Risks and potential complications

All-on-4 is a well-established, extensively studied procedure with high success rates, but as with any surgery, risks exist — infection, implant failure to properly fuse with bone, nerve proximity issues (particularly in the lower jaw), or mechanical issues with the prosthetic arch over time. Smoking significantly increases the risk of implant failure and is one of the most important factors within a patient’s control. A thorough consultation, accurate 3D imaging, and an experienced surgical team are the best ways to minimize these risks, and we’ll discuss your individual risk factors honestly during your consultation rather than glossing over them.

How to prepare for your All-on-4 consultation

  • Bring a list of current medications and any relevant medical history, especially diabetes, osteoporosis, or blood thinner use
  • Be prepared to discuss smoking status honestly, since it materially affects candidacy and success rates
  • Bring any recent dental X-rays if available, though a new CBCT scan will likely still be needed
  • Think through your budget and ask about financing or payment plan options upfront
  • Write down your specific concerns — comfort during healing, time off work needed, or how the temporary arch will look and feel — so nothing gets missed in the conversation

All-on-4 vs. All-on-6: what’s the difference?

All-on-6 is a related technique using six implants per arch instead of four, generally considered when a patient’s bone anatomy or bite forces call for additional support, or when a dentist recommends extra implants for long-term stability in a particular case. Whether four or six implants is the right approach for you depends entirely on your individual bone volume, density, and bite — this is exactly what the 3D imaging and consultation are designed to determine, and we’ll recommend whichever approach genuinely gives you the best long-term outcome rather than defaulting to one option.

What’s actually included in your All-on-4 cost: a line-by-line breakdown

Most All-on-4 pages online quote a single number and stop there. Because this is a five-figure treatment, we think patients deserve to see what that number is actually paying for — here’s a typical per-arch breakdown for context (your own written estimate will reflect your exact case):

Component Typical range (per arch)
Consultation & 3D CBCT imaging $150 – $400
Extractions (if needed, per tooth) $150 – $400
4 implant fixtures + abutments Largest single line item; varies by implant system
Same-day temporary fixed arch Included in most All-on-4 treatment plans
Final arch – acrylic-over-titanium Lower end of the final-arch range
Final arch – zirconia Higher end; more stain- and chip-resistant long-term
Total, single arch $18,000 – $28,000
Total, both arches (full mouth) $35,000 – $55,000

The biggest swing factor is the final-arch material: zirconia costs more upfront than an acrylic-over-titanium bridge but resists staining and chipping better over the long run, which is why we walk through both options — and what they mean for your budget and long-term maintenance — at your consultation rather than defaulting to one.

All-on-4 vs. All-on-X (All-on-5, All-on-6): which is right for you?

“All-on-X” is the umbrella term for full-arch implant techniques using a variable number of implants — All-on-4 is the most common version, but some patients are better served by five or six implants per arch. Here’s how the decision actually gets made:

  All-on-4 All-on-6
Implants per arch 4, angled 6, mixed angles
Best suited for Standard-to-moderate bone loss More bone loss, higher bite forces, added long-term redundancy
Typical cost Lower of the two Somewhat higher (more implants placed)
Load distribution Good Spread across more implants — extra margin if one implant is ever lost

Neither option is objectively “better” — it’s a clinical decision based on your CBCT scan, bone density, and bite. We’ll recommend whichever genuinely serves your long-term outcome, not whichever is easier to sell.

Your All-on-4 surgery day, hour by hour

Knowing what the day actually looks like helps most patients feel far less anxious about it:

  • Arrival & prep: final check-in, sedation administered if you’ve chosen IV or oral sedation, local anesthetic placed
  • Extractions: any remaining unhealthy or compromised teeth in the arch are removed
  • Implant placement: the four implants are placed at the positions and angles mapped out during your digital treatment planning
  • Same-day temporary arch: a fixed, functional temporary arch is attached to the implants before you leave — this is the “teeth in a day” step patients value most
  • Recovery instructions: you’ll go home with a soft-food plan, pain management, and a follow-up appointment already booked; someone should drive you home if sedation was used

Most patients are surprised how functional the temporary arch feels immediately — it’s built to let you eat, speak, and smile normally while the implants fuse with your jawbone underneath.

Financing All-on-4 implants in Mississauga

Because All-on-4 is a significant investment, we go through your payment options as part of the consultation, not as an afterthought:

  • Itemized written estimate first — so you know the real number before committing to anything
  • In-house payment plans to spread the cost across your treatment timeline rather than paying entirely upfront
  • Third-party healthcare financing — many Ontario patients use dedicated dental/health financing providers for implant treatment; ask us for details at your consultation
  • Employer benefits & health spending accounts (HSAs) — even when a plan doesn’t fully cover implants, many patients apply what coverage they do have (and any HSA balance) toward the total
  • CDCP — see our Canadian Dental Care Plan guide for what is and isn’t currently covered

Frequently asked questions about All-on-4 dental implants in Mississauga

How much do All-on-4 implants cost in Mississauga?

All-on-4 for a single arch typically costs $18,000–$28,000, and $35,000–$55,000 for both arches, depending on materials and any extractions needed.

Do I leave surgery without any teeth?

No, a temporary fixed arch is typically attached the same day as implant placement, so you leave with functional teeth immediately.

How long does the All-on-4 procedure take to fully complete?

Surgery itself takes a few hours, but the full process, including healing and the final permanent arch, typically takes three to six months.

Is All-on-4 covered by insurance or the CDCP?

Coverage is limited. Most employer plans cover only a portion, if any, and the CDCP does not currently cover full-arch implant restorations for most patients.

What’s the difference between All-on-4 and traditional implants?

Traditional implants typically require one implant per tooth and may need bone grafting; All-on-4 uses four strategically angled implants to support a full arch, often without grafting.

Am I too old for All-on-4 implants?

There’s no strict age limit; candidacy depends on bone health and overall ability to undergo minor surgery, which a consultation and 3D scan will determine.

How long do All-on-4 implants last?

With proper care and maintenance, the implants can last well over a decade or a patient’s lifetime, though the prosthetic arch may eventually need replacement due to wear.

Does smoking affect All-on-4 success?

Yes, smoking significantly increases the risk of implant failure and is one of the most important factors within a patient’s control before and after surgery.

What’s the difference between All-on-4 and All-on-6?

All-on-4 uses four implants per arch and suits standard-to-moderate bone loss; All-on-6 uses six implants and is typically recommended for more significant bone loss or higher bite forces. Your CBCT scan determines which is right for you.

Do I really leave with teeth the same day?

Yes — a fixed temporary arch is attached to the implants before you leave surgery, so you have functional teeth immediately while the implants fuse with your jawbone over the following months.

What is the total cost breakdown for All-on-4?

The main components are the CBCT scan and consultation, any extractions, the four implant fixtures, the same-day temporary arch, and the final arch (acrylic-over-titanium or zirconia) — together totaling roughly $18,000–$28,000 per arch.

Can I finance All-on-4 dental implants?

Yes. We offer in-house payment plans, can point you to third-party healthcare financing options, and help you apply any employer benefits or HSA balance toward the total — all discussed at your consultation alongside a written estimate.

We had a great experience at Eglinton Oak Dental when we brought our 11-year-old daughter in for a cavity.

The reception staff were very welcoming, friendly, and efficient. The paperwork was completed quickly, which made the check-in process smooth and stress-free.

What impressed us the most was the paediatric dentist. She took the time to speak with our daughter, make her comfortable, and build her confidence before starting the treatment. Her patience and gentle approach made a big difference, especially since dental visits can be stressful for children.

The entire experience was excellent. The dentist also clearly explained the future course of action and what we should expect going forward.

We really appreciated the professional and caring service and would highly recommend Eglinton Oak Dental to families looking for a child-friendly dental practice.

I visited the clinic today. Initially, I was hesitant and rescheduled my appointment twice as the dental clinic I visited 2 years ago gave me serious sensitivity pain after cleanup which stayed for 2 weeks. However, I was surprised with my before and after pictures, and no sensitivity at all. Thanks Dr Maya for your service. And the best part was nobody was trying to sell me services. I was explained that my cavities arent very severe and we can check after 6 months if I face any issues.
