Oral surgery refers to specialized dental procedures that involve surgical treatment of the teeth, gums, jawbone, and surrounding oral structures. These procedures are often recommended when restorative treatments alone cannot resolve the issue.
At Eglinton Oak Dental, our oral surgery services focus on both function and aesthetics — ensuring your bite, jaw alignment, and smile remain healthy and balanced.
Wisdom teeth often become impacted (stuck under the gum or bone), causing pain, swelling, infection, or crowding of nearby teeth. Early removal can prevent long-term complications.
We perform:
Simple extractions
Surgical removal of impacted wisdom teeth
Infection management
Post-operative care and monitoring
Our Mississauga patients appreciate our gentle approach and clear aftercare guidance that promotes faster healing.
Sometimes a tooth cannot be saved due to severe decay, fracture, trauma, or advanced gum disease. When extraction becomes necessary, we prioritize preserving surrounding bone and tissue to maintain your oral structure.

We carefully plan extractions to:
Minimize trauma
Reduce swelling and discomfort
Prepare the site for future tooth replacement (if needed)
Whenever possible, we discuss replacement options like dental implants or bridges before the procedure.
Your oral surgery journey begins with a comprehensive evaluation. We:
Review your medical and dental history
Take digital X-rays or 3D scans if required
Explain all treatment options clearly
Provide transparent cost estimates
Answer every question you may have
We believe informed patients make confident decisions.

Patients trust us because we focus on:

We don’t just treat the immediate problem — we help you protect your smile for years to come.
If you’re experiencing dental pain, swelling, impacted wisdom teeth, or have been advised to undergo oral surgery, the team at Eglinton Oak Dental is here to help. Early intervention often prevents more complex problems later.

We provide simple and surgical tooth extractions, wisdom tooth removal, bone grafting for implant sites, and dental implant placement. Complex cases, such as deeply impacted teeth close to a nerve or jaw surgery, are referred to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
A simple extraction typically costs about $150 to $350. Wisdom tooth removal usually costs about $200 to $600 per tooth, depending on whether the tooth is impacted and needs a surgical approach. We give you an exact quote after an exam and X-ray.
The area is fully numbed with local anaesthetic, so you should feel pressure but not sharp pain during the procedure. Sedation options are available for anxious patients. Afterwards, soreness and swelling are normal for a few days and are usually managed with prescribed or over-the-counter pain relief.
Most people feel much better within two to three days. The gum usually closes over in one to two weeks, while the bone underneath continues to heal for several months. Following aftercare instructions, such as not smoking or using straws, lowers the risk of a dry socket.
Not always. Many wisdom teeth, including some impacted ones, can be removed in our office. Your X-ray shows the tooth’s position and its relationship to nerves and the sinus, and we refer to a specialist when that is the safer choice.
Most private plans cover a large share of extractions and many other oral surgery procedures. Eligible patients may also be covered by the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). We can submit a pre-determination so you know your share before treatment.
Stick to soft, cool foods such as yogurt, smoothies (eaten with a spoon), mashed potatoes, eggs and soup that is not hot for the first few days. Avoid crunchy, spicy or very hot foods and chew on the other side until the area heals.
A dry socket happens when the blood clot in an extraction site comes out too early, leaving the bone exposed. It causes throbbing pain a few days after the extraction. Avoiding smoking, straws and hard rinsing lowers the risk.
Yes. The area is always numbed, and sedation options are available for anxious patients or longer procedures. We explain the options and costs before your appointment.
Often, yes. If a tooth is badly broken or infected and cannot be saved, we can usually remove it at an urgent appointment, Monday to Saturday.
