Professional in-office and custom take-home whitening — safely supervised, several shades brighter, and far more predictable than anything sold at the pharmacy.

HomeDental ServicesTeeth Whitening › Streetsville

Coffee from Queen Street South, red wine, tea and simple ageing all dull enamel over time. Teeth whitening in Streetsville done professionally lifts that staining safely, using a stronger gel than any over-the-counter kit while protecting your gums and checking first that the teeth underneath are healthy. Eglinton Oak Dental is at 3960 Eglinton Avenue West, Unit 12, a short drive south of Streetsville village. Our main Zoom teeth whitening page covers the technology; this page is written for patients travelling to us from Streetsville and the Mississauga Road corridor.

Your Options

Three ways to whiten — and who each one suits

In-Office Zoom Whitening

One appointment, around 60–90 minutes, typically several shades lighter the same day. Best before a wedding or event.

🏠

Custom Take-Home Trays

Trays moulded to your teeth plus professional gel, worn nightly for one to two weeks. Gentler on sensitive teeth.

🔁

Combined Approach

In-office session for the jump, take-home trays to maintain and top up months later.

🔄

Internal Bleaching

For a single dark tooth that has had a root canal — whitened from the inside out.

🧺

Cleaning First

A scale and polish removes surface stain and tartar, and sometimes that alone is enough.

Veneers or Bonding

For stains bleaching cannot shift — see veneers or bonding.

The Appointment

What an in-office whitening visit involves

  • Health check first: whitening gel on an untreated cavity or exposed root is a bad idea, so we examine first
  • Shade recorded: your starting shade is documented so the change is measurable, not just a feeling
  • Gums protected: a barrier is applied along the gumline before any gel touches the teeth
  • Gel and light: the professional-strength gel is applied in short cycles
  • Desensitiser: applied at the end to reduce the zingy sensitivity that can follow
  • Aftercare plan: what to avoid for the first 48 hours while enamel pores re-close

Plan around 60 to 90 minutes in the chair for a full in-office session.

Why professional whitening beats drugstore kits

Even resultNo patchy or streaky finish

Strips and one-size mouthguards leak gel onto the gums, miss the spaces between teeth, and cannot tell the difference between a stain and a cavity. The single biggest advantage of doing it at a dental office is not the brightness — it is that someone qualified checked your teeth first.

Whitening Does Not Change Crowns or Fillings

Existing dental work stays the same shade — which is why we plan the order of treatment with you.

How long do the results last?

Realistically, one to three years, depending almost entirely on what you drink and whether you smoke. Coffee, black tea, red wine, cola and dark berries are the usual culprits. Rinsing with water after a coffee, using a straw for iced drinks, and keeping up regular hygiene visits stretch the result considerably. If you have custom trays, a single top-up night every few months keeps the shade stable at very little cost.

Is whitening safe? And what about sensitivity?

Professional whitening supervised by a dentist is well established as safe for enamel. The most common side effect is temporary sensitivity to cold, which typically settles within a day or two — and is much less common when we use a desensitising agent and space out the sessions. Whitening is not recommended during pregnancy, and it will not lighten crowns, veneers, bridges or white fillings. If your front teeth already have older bonding or crowns, we normally whiten first, then replace that work to match the new shade.

Frequently asked questions: teeth whitening in Streetsville

How much does teeth whitening cost in Streetsville, Mississauga?

In-office Zoom whitening is typically $400 to $700 for a single session, and custom take-home trays with professional gel run $250 to $450.

How many shades whiter will my teeth get?

Most patients see a lift of several shades after one in-office session. Results depend on your starting shade and the type of staining — yellow-toned stains respond best, grey tones least.

Does whitening damage enamel?

No. Professional whitening supervised by a dentist is well established as safe for enamel at the concentrations used. Temporary cold sensitivity is the main side effect.

How long do whitening results last?

Usually one to three years, depending on coffee, tea, red wine and smoking. Custom trays let you top up at home for very little cost.

Will whitening work on my crowns and fillings?

No. Crowns, veneers, bridges and white fillings do not change colour. If they are in your smile line, we usually whiten the natural teeth first and then match the dental work to the new shade.

Is teeth whitening covered by insurance or the CDCP?

Whitening is cosmetic, so it is almost never covered. The exam and cleaning that precede it usually are covered by most plans.

Can I whiten if my teeth are sensitive?

Often yes, using take-home trays at a lower concentration over a longer period, plus a desensitising gel. Tell us about sensitivity at the consultation so we can plan around it.

What should I avoid straight after whitening?

For the first 48 hours avoid coffee, tea, red wine, cola, tomato sauce, curry and smoking — enamel pores are temporarily more open and stain more easily.
